On October 22, students employees from the Bamberg Job Corps Center volunteered to provide community services to the Macedonia Elementary School in Blackville, SC. The Carpentry class along with their instructor volunteered to paint benches and design art work on several walls in the Save the Children Reading Room.
The student employees also constructed and donated two picnic tables to the school. Future projects were discussed with Dr. Wanda Nettles, Career Technical Training Manager and Mr. Shawn Hale, Carpentry Instructor. Their standards of behavior and work ethics were models to be emulated by all.
The Macedonia Elementary School family is grateful for the opportunities that the Bamberg Job Corps provides for students to engage in community service, observe role models, and broaden their horizons beyond the merely academic.
