Bamberg Job Corps Center receives one of three Trucks as part of President Obama’s ARRA and the Green Initiatives

The Bamberg Job Corps Center received the first Vantage Electric Pure Power Extreme Efficiency Green Truck Extended Cab in the state of South Carolina. These Vantage electrical vehicles are shaped like a van but have a small trunk bed. Presently, the center has one electric truck but by the end of May, the center will receive their second one and third one at the end of June which will be a totally solar van.  These “Go Green” electric vehicles are 100% battery–operated. This electric truck has battery life of 30,000 miles, AC electric motor and is constructed for performance and durability.  The vehicle also has a heating and defrosting system and a FM/AM radio.  This is a four passenger spacious truck and can get up to 30 miles per hour.
Calvin Wilson, the Administration Manager at the Bamberg Job Corps Center stated “He was impressed by the construction of the vehicle and the way it was built.  I was expecting fiberglass instead of metal but the vehicle is designed just like a car inside and out.  It is designed for the highway.  This is a great savings and assent to the center.”  Students and staff are very excited about receiving the electric car.
