Black History Celebration

The Bamberg Job Corps Center will be celebrating Black History Month the week of February 21-27th.  We know that the month of February is “Black History Month.”  It is always good to recognize and make known to our students the importance of Black History. For next week, we do have some speakers that will come to speak with the students beginning on Monday.  On Wednesday, at 6:00 p.m., there will be a Black History Program.  All Staff and students are invited and encouraged to attend. 

Black History Week Celebration:
Monday:  There will be a speaker after the assembly program.  Mr. Gerard Wright, President of the Bamberg County branch of the NAACP will speak with the students about “Yesterday compared to Today.”
Tuesday:  Motivational Speaker Lloyd Hale with South Carolina Share will come and speak with the entire student body on February 22nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Vernessa Williams Gymnasium.
Wednesday: We will have the Wose Dancers from Charleston to come and do dancing for our students.  This will be in the gymnasium as well.
Thursday:  Elaine Kelly from New Directions will be here at 10:00 a.m. to talk to our females.  This will also be in the Vernessa Williams Gymnasium.

Friday:  John Rouse will be here for our CMT, February 23rd at 2:30 p.m. in the Vernessa Williams Gymnasium.  He will discuss “Negative Consequences and Positive Consequences.”

Friday:  Drama Presentation-“For Colored Girls” to be presented at Voorhees College at 7:30 p.m.

The Bamberg Job Corps Center will fellowship with the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Sunday, February 27th at 11:00 a.m.

The Bamberg NAACP will be having its Annual Tea and Black History Program on Sunday, February 27th at 3:00 on the campus of Denmark Technical College, the Old Cafeteria.  I will be taking students who desire to attend the fellowship and Black History program at Denmark Tech.
