SHERWIN WILLIAMS & ATTERBURY BEGIN A COLORFUL TRAINING PARNTERSHIP

Placement pro and community gal, Gretchen Meitzler, with our Outreach & Placement Partners, American Business Corporation , made a great connection with a new program through Sherwin Williams called “Pro Painter”. She spoke to Sherwin Williams of the Job Corps program being a good fit for this new pilot. After a phone call to Atterbury Business & Community Director Jeff Byrd, and additional meetings, Mr. Byrd brought Sherwin Williams and the program to the Atterbury center. 20 Select Carpentry, HBI Facility Maintenance, and Painting trade students were enrolled in this pilot, with the intention of training students to paint to Sherwin Williams standards, with Classroom Instruction, Professional Painters & Contractor testimonials and trainings, and a hands-on painting project. The RFK Dorm was selected to be the painting project with Sherwin Williams supplying all the paints, brushes, and materials needed for the job. Our students event received new SW Logo shirts for their efforts. This is a two week ongoing project and we will report more next week. In Week One our students completed classroom training and began prep-work to paint the RFK Dorm. At the end of the training the intent is to hold a job fair with our Sherwin Williams Certified Painters and local employers & contractors looking for individuals with a high level of training and skill. It’s a perfect match, Atterbury Job Corps & Sherwin Williams…more next week!!
