This week our Union Pre-Apprentice Program spotlight is on the Atterbury Cement Masonry Trade! The crew had all hands on deck, or should I say all hands helped build a cement slab deck right outside our “Student Store”, connected to our Café. It will be a new location for an outdoor seating area. There will be tables and chairs available for students to sit and socialize during the warm weather months. As seen in the pictures it is a large slab, but our masons take on the small tasks as well as the large tasks with high skill regardless of the challenge, under the guidance of Operative Plasters and Cement Masons International Union, Instructor Mike Sharp, What was once a gravel parking area will now be an attractive addition to our center and enhance students culture. These hands on projects provide real training into introductory skills taught in the Union Apprenticeship program. This Training will help our students pay the bills, with a High Starting wage, and a skill that will provide employment for life. Thanks to our hard working Cement Trade Students!
