BLACK HISTORY MONTH – SOUTH CENTRAL INDIANA BLUES SOCIETY EDUCATES ATTERBURY IN THE BLUES

The South Central Indiana Blues Society dropped by Atterbury Theater on the 27th of February to close out Black History month in style. They brought a full band with a horn section and a fantastic power point program that took students from the beginnings of the Blues musical genre in its African roots up to modern Blues heroes today such as Buddy Guy. Atterbury student Iyana Smith got to perform the classic Bessie Smith song, Black Mountain Blues with the band and Academic Instructor Mrs. Blankenship performed a song by Koko Taylor, Queen of the Blues.  The students enjoyed the program and band performance so much that they asked if they could come back again . . . the Blues Society said YES! This could be the beginning of a very harmonious relationship! Great Job Iyana and Thank you SCIBS!
