Atterbury Job Corps is a new member of MEP! The Manufacturing Education Partnership. What do we manufacture? Careers! Atterbury has made great strides with finding our students employment and internship opportunities in Manufacturing. It is becoming our states largest and fastest growing Industry sector. Central Indiana is a Hot Bed of Manufacturing and Atterbury is positioned to train the workers of tomorrow in those industries. This week BCL Director Jeff Byrd and members of MEP, who represent local employers such as NTN Driveshaft, Cummins Engine, and the education organization called ECO Network, facilitated a presentation on how todays modern manufacturing provides a great middle class life style and career option outside the traditional 4 year college career path. The MEP presentation educates young people on the variety of options out there, and higher education is no longer thought of as “one-size-fits-all”. Atterbury Job Corps is very familiar with this idea, as we have been providing real life Technical Training skills and employment options for youth for the past 50 years. The same type of Technical Skills that manufacturing employers are needing in Central Indiana. Thanks to MEP and Columbus North High School for this opportunity to spread the Atterbury word, and to support the Manufacturing Education Partnership mission!!
