Friday, August the 21st was a Great Day at Atterbury Job Corps Center. Students have spent 2015 staying motivated to not only take on the challenges of job training and higher education, but did so while overcoming the obstacles of everyday life that throw so many off track. They have endured tremendous pressure from family, friends, Instructors, Career Counselors, staff, and have completed their Academic Education and Vocational training, investing on average 8 to 11 months of their lives to this program. Our Commencement Speaker, Nicole Burnett, the Regional Director for TCU/IAM, spoke on how our beginnings do not dictate our endings. This sentiment was echoed in the life story of our Valedictorian, Derrick Dowdley, and the many challenges he faced on his journey to Job Corps, and how he approaches his days with hope as a new college student. Our Center Director, Redford Salmon, confirmed our students accomplishments and proclaimed them all Graduates. We take tremendous Pride in Congratulating the 98th Atterbury Job Corps Graduation Class of 2015! Now Go out and Soar you Eagles!
