IUOE Heavy Equipment Trade brought out the “Big Guns” this week! Our “Welcome Center” has a back door that wasn’t being utilized because it led out to a drainage ditch. HEO were charged with building a earth bridge to allow students a passage over the “mote”. Using a Bobcat and a dump truck, the team moved and pushed dirt into place, to form a walkway over two large metal drainage tubes. The tubes will allow the water to pass under the walkway during times of heavy rain. Then the path was covered in gravel, and will be tamped down and hardened to stay in place, creating a solid form. Now when students come into the “Welcome Center” to check in, they can pass directly to campus, instead of going back out the front door and around the sidewalk. It will ease congestion in the “Welcome Center” as well. A great “hands-on” project accomplished perfectly under the direction of IUOE Instructor Scott Browning! Way to go, HEO!
