In response to a request at a recent Student Government Association assembly meeting made by the student body who wanted to create an event that showed the centers unity, the SGA, Social Development, Recreation, and SD Staff, all rallied together quickly to make that request a reality. The students wanted to show that despite a very diverse population, and various differences, that people can get along, in peace and fellowship. Students were supplied with candles, they wrote messages promoting peace, and created posters that displayed this unity that were distributed around the center dorms. A video presentation was created by Peer Leadership Coordinator, Mr. West, on what the Peace Walk meant to the students, and they gave their thoughts on the current epidemic of violence in the country. Social Development Director, Mr. Fredrick spoke on the event, and what was a once a wish in some students hearts, became a reality. Giving inspiration that the rest of our world can do the same!
