ATTERBURY CENTER INDUSTRY COUNCIL – CULINARY STEALS THE SHOW

Atterbury held a Center Industry Council meeting with a select few of our Union Pre-Apprenticeship trades to discuss ways to enhance the current program, the training provided, and our goals for the coming Program Year. In attendance were Atterbury Center Director, Jessica Joiner, Deputy Center Director, Renee Wolf, BCL Director Jeff Byrd facilitating, and new CTT Service Trade Manager, Robert Wiser. In attendance from the Vocational Trade programs were our IUPAT Glazing and Painting programs as represented by Tim Sorrell, IUPAT Field Coordinator, Robert Baugh, Director of Training for Finishing Trades Institute of District Council 91, Glazing Instructors Bob Denton, Painting Instructor Kelly West, IMI Brick Masonry Instructor Michael Flowers, Jeff Turner, Dean of ITT Technical Institute in Indianapolis, Mike Sharp, OPCMIA Cement Masonry Instructor, and William Gay, Atterbury Electrical Instructor. The topics discussed at the luncheon were: On-Center Co-Educational Workshops, Community Projects, Short Term certifications, and promotion of the Union Pre-Apprenticeship programs to the community. This forum allows for detailed discussions and thoughtful, strategic conversation. All left at the end of the day with solid initiatives on how to move forward in each area discussed. Everyone also left stuffed to the gills from the Surf & Turf menu cooked and prepared by our Top Notch Culinary students who stole the show. Kudos to Chief Mitchell, Chef Spohia, and all the Culinary Crew!
