On September 17th, an International Coastal Cleanup took place at the Arecibo Port, around the lighthouse. This Activity was hosted by Scuba Dogs and the volunteer’s organization “A Arecibo Clean” in cooperation with our TEAP Specialist, María de los Angeles Mercado, Job Developer, Glorimar Villamil, Recreational and RA Supervisors jointly with the our Center Director, Miguelina Torres and twenty (20) of our RA students.
Students participated of the clean-up, at the beach area in the Arecibo Port. Identifying and classifying the debris determining their source and taking corrective actions to prevent environmental damage and learned from this experience how to conserve our Natural Resources.
They also shared this experience with many other agencies such as: the Boys Scout, Municipal Recycling Department, Natural Resources Department, Community Members and Community schools students.
This activity was also broadcasted by a radio station, our TEAP Specialist, María de los Angeles Mercado, our Job Development, Glorimar Villamil and two of our students were interviewed by the promoters.
