Anaconda Serves Again to Raise Funds for Elementary School Playgrounds
Anaconda, MT–Anaconda JCCCC student volunteers helped the Anaconda Elementary PTSA at another extremely successful Bingo Night fundraiser. The second annual event was held to raise funds for improving the existing playground at Dwyer Elementary School and add to the playground makeover that what was started as a result of last year’s fundraiser at Lincoln Elementary School.
A Fit Funhouse will be added to the pieces already in place at Dwyer Elementary, which will see some alterations in order to bring them into Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance. Additions and upgrades will also take effect at Lincoln Elementary, where proceeds from last year’s first annual Bingo Night fundraiser used.
The event was so well attended and supported that the Association has already placed the order for new equipment and is working with the school district maintenance supervisor to install one adaptive swing to accommodate students who need the alternative design.
Mats have been purchased to be placed under the swings at both elementary school playgrounds as a means to prevent the sand and wood chips from being compacted down, as well as help with water building up and freezing in the winter and creating holes when dry.
Anaconda student volunteers assisted with all aspects of the evening, including a silent auction, Plinko, 50/50 raffle ticket sales, Boxtop ticket exchange, live auction, pizza sales, and general attention to participants.
