Outdoor Nation Youth Summit 2011, in Denver Colorado was educational and inspirational. The planned activities and guest speakers gave attendees a chance to get involved and learn through others’ experiences with all things outdoors.
Anaconda Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center (CCC) sent one Office Administration student to the Denver Regional event. Rachael Garoutte’s ability to learn all she can from what she is handed is apparent through her work ethic in trade and throughout her internship with the administration department of Anaconda Job Corps CCC.
She recently stepped up from her leaderhip responsibilities in the female dorm to help the Student Government Association (SGA) when its Committee Chair position vacated early.
Rachael’s passion and creativity are motivation to those around her. Her commitment to herself and others is inspiring and a trait that she seeks to find in those leaders she chooses to follow.
“My generation is more detached from fresh air and physical activities than our own parents and grandparents,” claims Rachael Garoutte, Acting Committee Chairperson for the center’s SGA.
“As a leader at Anaconda Job Corps, I’m excited to share with the other students how much fun I had at the Outdoor Summit. I learned how to safely camp, hike, and fish with or without others.”
Upon Rachael’s return to Anaconda Job Corps CCC and the forested campus situated nearby the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness Area, she will have ample opportunity to not only tell her peers but show them how to do and be more outdoors. Through her good example already established with those she lives and works, she will continue to lead them. Well. Outside.
