Anaconda Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center–Giving Their Best, Giving Life

Students and staff from the Anaconda Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center (JCCCC) gave their best on June 2nd when they donated over 40 pints of blood.  For the last five years Anaconda JCCCC has partnered with the American Red Cross to schedule and host a blood drive at which 35 – 40 pints of blood are provided on average nearly every other month.

The Anaconda JCCCC is associated with the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest in southwest Montana and serves over 230 students of which the 40-plus donors today were mostly return supporters. They are the students who eagerly engage in serving others this way and understand that each pint of their blood can save up to three lives. Why not contribute?

When Culinary Arts student, Vladislov Kovtonyuk, was asked why he was giving his blood, he explained, “I like helping people.”  Kovtonyuk has been enrolled at Anaconda JCCCC not even two months and has adjusted well to life on center.  “It’s in my blood to serve others,” he says.

The rule of thumb states that one pint of what’s coursing through Kovtonyuk’s veins could save up to three lives; the generosity that’s “in his blood” touches multiple lives.  Anaconda JCCCC is proud to be represented by Kovtonyuk and all the students and staff that saved lives that day.
