For Make A Difference Day (MADD), four Anaconda students and one staff partnered to replace an old bridge that had fallen into disrepair and contributed to subsequent flooding and closure of a local ATV trail.
Over the course of two weeks this month, 14 individuals representing five project partners hauled 20 yards of gravel and multiple 35-foot long timbers with a Bobcat, one D3 Cat, and a custom-designed ATV trailer to construct the replacement bridge that crosses Halfway Creek and to allow ATV riders access for motorized use of this trail in the Delmoe Lake-Pipestone area of Butte Montana.
The project was funded through a grant that the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest was awarded. Together with AmeriCorps St. Louis, Mining City Trail Riders, Jay Fortune Construction, and Anaconda Job Corps CCC, the forest recreation staff got the work done and completed the project.
