Anaconda JCCCC Counselor Instrumental in Student Enlistments, Awarded Certificate of Appreciation

Thomas B. Lyons (pictured center), Counselor at Anaconda Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center, is presented a Certificate of Appreciation by John D. Lamkin (pictured left), Captain and Company Commander of the US Army Recruiting Company and Mark E. James (pictured right), Sargeant First Class and Reserve Recruiter of the US Army Recruiting Station located in Butte Montana.

United States Army Recruiting Battalion, Salt Lake City Commander’s Certificate of Appreciation Awarded to Thomas B. Lyons. Thank You for your service to the Salt Lake Recruiting Battalion and to our country. Your sacrifices are very much appreciated and brings credit upon yourself, your community, and our Nation.

“In an atmosphere of continually more stringent requirements, Tom’s efforts have helped greatly increase the number of enlistments coming from AJCCCC,” offered James who further explains that, “Since Tom started working with us and our company over two years ago, we’ve had a conduit for providing candidates for enlistment. He identifies the skilled and eligible Job Corps students who want to match their needs with ours, and we are then able to offer further training and service opportunities when they enlist.”

Nearly ten AJCCCC students have achieved successful enlistment in a variety of capacities, each of which have been tied to and drawn upon the trade-specific skills taught and practiced at AJCCCC. Brick Masons and Carpenters in particular are doubly trained because when they enlist they have graduated the Job Corps program and are entering another, more advanced training program of the US Army Engineer Reserve Company which specializes in carpentry and masonry.

Most recently AJCCCC graduate, Matthew Warburton of Office Administration, enlisted as a Movement Coordination Specialist. “Due to the logistics required for us to succeed in what we do, we need the puzzle-solving types just as much as the skilled labor types,” clarified Lamkin.

Prior to AJCCCC seeing Warburton off, Eric Vogel of Heavy Equipment Operators graduated the Job Corps program to enlist as a Truck Driver.

Lyons’ support of and dedication to the students of AJCCCC and the recruiters of the US Army Recruiting Station in Butte strengthens the collaborative community of service that he has been instrumental in creating.  Job Corps Works!
