2013 Wildland Fire Training at Anaconda JCCCC

ANACONDA, MT– The week of June 10-14, Anaconda JCCCC hosted it’s associating Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest (BDNF) for annual fire season training. Guard School is designed for first-year firefighters, who have never fought a wildland fire.  Different courses are offered every day throughout the week to prepare novices with information about fire weather, fire behavior, terrain, fuel types, equipment, etc. 

Pictured top: A yurt is set up for Guard School dining and positioned outside of the culinary arts classroom, where Anaconda JCCCC culinary arts students get to train for their future fire assignments as Kitchen Crew. Kitchen Crews support the caterers the feed the firefighters on the incidents.
