Employers and community leaders joined with Alaska Job Corps staff and students on May 19. It was the first Workforce Council lunch and it focused on Accounting, Security and Protective Services and Office Administration programs. Prior to this, the Center has hosted Community Industry Council lunches. However with the advent of the Workforce and Investment Opportunities Act, the tone and tenor of the industry outreach has been renamed and more focused. Guests from around the state met to discuss the standards and requirements for successful employees in these fields. Students, ready to graduate, introduced themselves to this important network of guests. A full presentation was followed by guided table talks. The Alaska Job Corps Culinary Arts class and Chef David provided homemade soups, salads and breadsticks for the meal.
