US Senators and Community proud of Alaska Job Corps Graduates

The National Commencement at the Alaska Job Corps brought in families, alumni, leaders and friends from all over the state. The keynote speaker was US Senator Dan Sullivan. As he addressed the graduates, more than one was deeply moved by his admiration for both their goals but also recognition of their families’ sacrifice.

Over 90 students graduated but only half were able to attend the ceremony on August 26th, because many are already working at their new careers. Employers include City of Palmer, Calista, Guardian, North Pacific, Yukon Equipment, Hale Construction, Planet Fitness, Wiedner, Fred Meyer, Hopewell, Brown’s Electric, Alaska Standard Roofing, health consortiums, MTA and many tribal and Native associations and councils.

Chugach Education Services, the operator of Alaska Job Corps, had Mack Ferrick address the students with his pride and gratitude about their success. Director Malyn Smith, Mayor Deleena Johnson, Chamber of Commerce representatives, along with Senator Murkowski’s representative also congratulated and saluted the graduates.
