Cheering Our Veterans at the Alaska Job Corps Center

Veterans Day at the Alaska Job Corps Center began with an appreciation breakfast serving homemade pancakes and custom omelets to all Veterans.  This was followed by a well-organized all center assembly where 15 student and staff veterans were recognized.   In addition to a local color guard, anthem vocalist, poetry and oral history, all veterans were introduced and presented with certificates.

Guests Charles Buzzatto, Allen Dock and Russell Black represented the Soldier and Family Assistance Center and Wounded Warrior Group.   Handmade flags were waved while the five students led the full center in singing Lee Greenwood’s song, “Proud to be An American.”  Approximately 50 hand written and decorated letters to soldiers were sent, in honor of troops currently serving overseas.  Lunch was a thematic “All American Meal,” complete with fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and apple pie.

The Alaska Job Corps is happy to recognize the service of fifteen veteran students and staff and honor our servicemen and women around the world.   Thank you for your service.
