Alaska’s Y2Y P4P team joined up with Neighborworks, a national group, to do public service on Thursday June 9. Nine Job Corps Y2Y ambassadors joined other community members to help make a difference. It was a painting project on some older log buildings right in the center of town. But more importantly, it was an opportunity to work and talk, side by side, with other people who knew little about the Youth To Youth, Partners For Peace program.
The day was full of painting, conversation, lunch and clean up. When the Alaska Job Corps team left the site, the old log cabins shone with their new green trim and walnut oil. The other employers who participated commented over and over about how the Job Corps Team was both worthy and industrious. And the appeal for Y2Y, P4P was being shared around the community.
The Alaska Job Corps is operated by Chugach Government Solutions as a part of their educational effort to provide training and safety to young adults in the National Job Corps program.
