Thanks to Senator Murkowski, Alaska Job Corps is now enjoying a lot more reading material. There is no well stocked library at the Alaska Job Corps Center. But there are little collections of books in classrooms, dorm atriums, and in offices. Books are a precious commodity and the students just received eight large boxes of books from the Library of Congress.
Senator Lisa Murkowski had an opportunity to get some of the second and duplicate books shared with Job Corps students. Among the boxes were books that applied to many of vocational training offered on center, including Nursing Assistants, Accounting, Carpentry, and Culinary Arts. The dorms received some of the more fictional offerings and large coffee table books were shared in the reception areas and Career Placement work area. Books on Resume Development and training will be well used as students enter their final phase of Job Corps where they are finding their job and resuming their career.
Books seem secondary nowadays to the digital alternative. However, they are solid and reassuring and a wonderful resource. Job Corps is grateful for the contribution and will treat them well. Great thanks to Senator Murkowski for sharing these books.
