ALASKA JOB CORPS STUDENTS WALK THE CONSTITUTION ON CONSTITUTION DAY

Amendments to the United States Constitution were scattered all over the Job Corps Campus on Monday, September 17.   Two hundred and fifty four students walked the lengthy circuit to get their Constitution passport stamped at each station.  In addition to learning the critical importance of the Bill of Rights, students gained exercise and understanding.  A student in Health Occupations said that she learned more in this activity, than she had in her entire high school training.  “I love the constitution now.  And amendment number 19 is my favorite.”  She was referring to the Women’s Right to Vote, ratified on August 18, 1920.

The Alaska Job Corps Center is located in Palmer, Alaska.  It is managed administered by the U.S. Department of Labor and managed by Chugach Alaska Corporation.  Eleven career technical trades are offered along with residential housing, recreation opportunities and education.
