Alaska Job Corps Students Are Part of Community

Alaska Job Corp's students celebrate National Initiative, "Let's Move, Cities and Towns," in local parade and community activities

Alaska Job Corps Students collected over 140 bags of garbage in a large community-clean up this year.  Community service, paired with training opportunities, is an ongoing part of the Alaska Job Corps Career Training program.

Last weekend students participated in a festive parade celebrating summer in Alaska.  As the parade traveled through town there was cheering from the sidelines from alumni, staff and many parade watchers.  This exercise also celebrated the “Let’s Move, Cities and Towns ,” National Initiative.

The Alaska Job Corps enjoys a good reputation within the City of Palmer, the Matanuska Susitna Borough, and the State of Alaska.  250 young adults come from all over the state to train in eleven different trades.  The Alaska Job Corps is managed by the Chugach Alaska Corporation and administered by the U. S. Department of Labor.
