The Mat Su Community College Outreach Coordinator, Mariann Wetherby, addressed students at the Alaska Job Corps Center. She explained how the college and Job Corps work together. For some students in the program, the idea of college seemed out-or-reach. With Mariann’s explanations, students began to understand how advanced training can benefit them in their search and securement of employment. Currently the Alaska Job Corps has eleven students studying at the college; all students have successfully completed their trade and academic work and are in good standing. Many more alumni students take classes at the college in order to continue their education and training. The Mat Su College is an extension of the University of Alaska. Both Mat Su College and Alaska Job Corps work together in many areas to provide good training to students from through out the state.
