Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center Culinary Arts students compete in BBQ contest

Students from the Culinary Arts trade of the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center participated in the recent BBQ Contest that was part of a larger weekend community celebration in Excelsior Springs on Saturday August 18th. Instructor and Chef Brittani Rhoades held a competition amongst her students to build a team of four. Selected students then began working for two weeks to develop the best sauces and rubs. Under the team name of “Saucepan Samurais”, they competed as one of 80 teams. In the end they came in 49th and received a lot of positive feedback and encouragement from other teams and people in the community.
