On March 23, Woodstock Student Government Association students spent a day in Annapolis, organized with Speaker Pro Tem member Maryland Delegate Adrienne A. Jones. Del. Jones is the Legislative District 10 representative to Baltimore County which includes Woodstock Job Corps Center.
Students started the day in the Maryland State house, where they had reserved seats in the House Gallery to view the Legislative session and voting taking place. The students received a tour of the historic rooms and chambers of the Maryland State House and were escorted through the tunnel to the House Office Building where they viewed the Sparrow Deal and Tiffany Maryland State Seal.
The day concluded with lunch with Del. Jones in which students enjoyed an hour of conversation, a question and answer session and an opportunity to share their Job Corps story. She was very impressed by the students and congratulated them on their achievements at Woodstock. Del. Jones continues to support the program and has been invited to attend the Center’s graduation in June. The day was a great cusses. It was very informative and enjoyable for the students to get a glimpse of how legislation works in Annapolis.
