Jazmin Young received her high school diploma from ECOT, an online charter school in 2014. She enrolled in college but found it difficult to work and attend school full-time. Jazmin decided to join Job Corps because she was seeking a career change, and Job Corps offered a quicker route to success.

Jazmin wasted no time getting to work and completed the Pharmacy Technician trade, obtained her HIPAA, first aid, and CPR certifications in four months. A month later she passed the state board earning her Pharmacy Technician Certification and gained employment with Walgreens Pharmacy. During her enrollment, Jazmin participated in several community service projects, and women’s empowerment groups. “Denneth Campbell mentored me and Job Corps helped me with self-control, discipline, and adapting to different environments and people,” said Jazmine.

“Take your internship seriously, because surely there will be success awaiting you in the end,” recommended Jazmine. She feels that her work based learning experience gave her plenty of opportunities to grow and have hands on experience. Jazmine plans to continue working as a pharmacy technician at Walgreens; in addition to attending Cleveland State University to study Pharmaceutical Science.
